Artist Statement
Everything is in a state of development and destruction, destruction and development: creation. Old structures, assaulted, degrade, providing the elements and foundation for new life. It is inevitable; be it time or trauma, what was made will be destroyed, and from the detritus will spring anew.
Informed by the patterns of development and destruction inherit to the organic and inorganic, broadly speaking, my work attempts to capture elements of this cycle; decay and growth, trauma and healing, erosion and formation, and all that is associated, physical and ephemeral.
In a state of stasis, I hope to capture the perpetual link between the animate and inanimate, and the inescapable forces which are the essential elements of life; a moment in this fantastic and terrifying cycle which may be appreciated.
